NOOOO!!!

U2 iPod
Originally uploaded by drewesque.

What happens when my favorite band teams up with my favorite computer manufacturer? The U2 Special Edition iPod that retails for a cool $350, replete with every U2 song ever recorded and replicated signatures from each member on the back.

Damnit.

As neat or nostalgic this is, I can't give way to my emotional impulse to buy it. I just can't. Can I?

Realistically, my iPod has every U2 song from every album, plus hundreds of bootlegged live performances and radio/internet broadcasts. The only difference is, mine is not black, does not say "U2 SPECIAL EDITION", and does not have the replicated signatures on the back.

Some spray paint and a magic marker, I feel, will take care of that.

As Dana Carvey's John McLaughlin would say, "WRONG!" You've been misled, my friend. That special edition iPod unfortunately does not come "replete with every U2 song ever recorded". What it does include is a coupon for $50 off The Complete U2 Digital Box Set, which will run you an extra $100 (after the coupon). This, I think you'll agree, is kinda lame. I don't think the extra $50 for the black color and signatures can be justified, which is too bad. For further details, see my published works.
